Xi Alpha Chapter
The 486th Key to The House of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc
1978 – Xi Alpha Chapter was chartered on May 5, 1978, at Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky. The Chapter grew from an interest group of more than 20 gentlemen anxious to have a chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha on their campus. The state director of Alpha Phi Alpha provided the necessary paperwork which would have to be filed with the University and with the National Headquarter of Alpha Phi Alpha – then based in Chicago, Illinois. The application process began and potential aspirants were required to submit transcripts. After review of those transcripts, it was determined that only 9 men had the grades to proceed, however one decided later not to complete the process. This would be the “Alpha Line” at Morehead State: Gregory A. Threat, Christopher Turley, Vic Carter, Joe Tuck, John Merchant, Cleazell Petty, Bobby Jones and Wayne Frazier. The charter members were initiated by Brothers from Alpha Beta Lambda and Epsilon Chi Chapters. The Chapter was de-activated in 1994, but through a lot of hard work and improvements, it was re-activated 1996 with the help of Brothers Delvin Hickerson Jr., Kevin L. Harris, Ronald F. Ortines, and Terrel S. Warner
